The Eternal Father Awards is an exciting and prestigious annual awards show that seeks to change the narrative around Jamaican fathers by telling the stories of the best examples of male parenting in the country. We believe that the narrative needs to be changed so that attitudes in fathers, and toward fathers can be improved, in order for family dynamics to be more conducive to a mature and productive society.

In 2022, Mr. Felix Morris, a resident of Gayle, St. Mary, was nominated by his daughter Danielle for the Sam Sharpe Award for Exemplary Fathers with a Disability. In her nomination video she recalled with the affection of that one of her favourite memories with her father was the first time he took her to KFC. The video warmed hearts as she said how her dad was wonderful.
A testament to perseverance, love, and quiet strength, Mr. Morris became a single father when Danielle was just three months old. Her mother handed her over to him and never returned. But even before Danielle’s birth, Mr. Morris had already endured a traumatic experience that would alter the course of his life. One of his hands was maliciously severed by a close relative, and the other was left immobile after severe tendon damage.
Despite these unimaginable challenges, Mr. Morris raised his daughter with devotion and dignity. When we first met Danielle, she was an articulate and bright-eyed 11-year-old. Today, at 15 years old and in fourth form at Guy’s Hill High School, she sets sights on successfully completing high school and moving on to studying to become an Aesthetic Nurse.Â
Mr. Morris now seeks support to help Danielle complete her secondary education. With your support The EFAs will grant Mr Morris a monitored scholarship for Danielle to assist in supporting her education.
